THIS COPY IS IN MY POSSESSION AND WILL NORMALLY SHIP NEXT DAY. This book is the basis for the Alex Baldwin, Sean Connery movie and is the first Jack Ryan novel. While not exactly a limited edition this publisher is well known for low first printing runs for new authors, in this case reportedly 5000 copies. Even with everything that I have mentioned above an OK copy, far from perfect of Clancy's first novel. The book has a full red cloth binding with silver inlay to the spine printing. This scarce First Edition meets all first edition points: there is NO price on the dust jacket, there are six blurbs on the rear panel with the Cussler statement being third in line, there are 18 lines of text on the copyright page with no mention of edition or printing, the ISBN number appears on the lower RH corner of the rear dust jacket panel as well as the lower RH corner of the rear board. The jacket is faded, has some soil, some edgewear, some chipping mostly at the top and bottom of the spine. This copy has some spine lean, some soil to the edges of the text block, board edge wear, a stain to the ffep, a notary type blind stamp from a previous owner to the ffep. A solid tight copy but it is a rough copy.
